Meet Sammy

Sammy is a short haired, orange and white, neutered male kitten. He is a Rex kitten with curly hair and curly whiskers. Rex cats are not abundantly common in this area. He is a brother to Rachel who does not have Rex characteristics. He was born 8/30/11 and is current with his vaccinations. He was born to a feral mother cat and was brought to us at 1 day old. The kittens were raised jointly by their feral mother and us. Mama took such good care of them physically but allowed us to pet, play with and socialize her babies. Sammy and Rachel are wonderfully, friendly and affectionate little kittens with all the normal behavior of any kitten. Sammy and Rachel are the only two remaining at Kitty Keepers.

Your kindness in remembering these formerly unwanted kitties makes it possible for us to continue to provide this service to them and to the community. Sammy would have had little chance of survival without your generosity.

We thank you for helping us to help them.

Meet Ruth

Ruth is a short haired, cream and black, spayed female kitten. She is a Rex kitten with curly hair and curly whiskers. Rex cats are not abundantly common in this area. She is a sister to Rachel and Rebecca who have no Rex characteristics. She was born 8/30/11 and is current with her vaccinations. She was born to a feral mother cat and was brought to us at 1 day old. The kittens were raised jointly by their feral mother and us. Mama took such good care of the physically but allowed us to pet, play with and socialize her babies. Ruth and her siblings are wonderfully, friendly and affectionate little kittens with all the normal behavior of any kitten. Ruth got her own furrever home for Christmas and will never have to know shelter life again.

Your kindness in remembering these formerly unwanted kitties makes it possible for us to continue to provide this service to them and to the community. Ruth would have had little chance of survival without your generosity.

Meet Miracle

Miracle is an adorable little kitten that came into the October clinic in a carrier with his mother and littermates. He was the runt of the litter and no one had noticed he was not getting enough to eat. His siblings were all big enough to alter, but little Miracle was literally just an hour or so from death. We took him and started to bottle feed him. He was so tiny and so frail it was just hard to imagine him surviving. But through a series of devoted foster homes, little Miracle is a happ, healthy little fellow, who will be ready to be altered at the November clinic and then ready for his furrever home. He will probably always be a small kitty, but his will to live and his joy of life have made the journey worthwhile for all who helped in his rescue.

Your kindness in remembering these formerly unwanted kitties makes it possible for us to continue to provide this service to them and to the community. Miracle would have had little chance of survival without your generosity.

Meet Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea is a tiny short-haired dilute tortie. She is about 7 weeks old. Sweet Pea was found by a bridge in Beaver Creek. From her injuries, it appears she was just thrown from a car. She was very sick and had a fever and infection. In the two weeks she has been with us, Sweet Pea has blossomed into a delightful, playful and loving kitten. She does not seem to be traumatized by her experience. Good health and love have transformed her into the adorable kitten she should be. She will be available for adopting after October 1st. DOB July 2011.

Your kindness in remembering these formerly unwanted kitties makes it possible for us to continue to provide this service to them and to the community. Sweet Pea would have had little chance of survival without your generosity.

We thank you for helping us to help them.

Meet ME

ME has they most beautiful eyes. Her name means Emerald Eyes. She came to Kitty Keepers in 1996 and was adopted in 2001. She was recently returned because her owner no longer wanted her. She is an older, short-haired, steal-gray, spayed female. She is VERY SWEET and adjusted very quickly to her return to Kitty Keepers. She is declawed on the front and really deserves a home of her own for the remainder of her life.

Your kindness in remembering these formerly unwanted kitties makes it possible for us to continue to provide this service to them and to the community.

We thank you for helping us to help them.

Meet Clyde

Clyde is a really well-behaved and gentle soul. He gets along well with people and cats. On a very cold day this winter the staff arrived at the sanctuary to find a box on the stoop. Their hearts nearly stopped as it was so cold they fully expected to find a frozen cat or kittens in the box. They rushed to bring it inside and opened the box. Out stepped the most beautiful Siamese cat who was most happy to be out of the box and purred in appreciation to his new found saviors. A note was attached stating his name was Clyde (at least he got to keep his name), he’s 10 years old and urinates in the house. We had him tested and then treated him for his urinary tract infection and he has never urinated inappropriately again. How sad that this wonderful creature lost his long-time home because he was sick. His chances of adoption, because of his age are slim. Because of your generosity we are able to offer Clyde sanctuary for the remainder of his life.

Your generosity has made it possible for Kitty Keepers to take in this charming little kitten and save him from a certain death.

Meet Chocolate Mousse

This darling little fellow was found under a porch when it was -40 degrees F. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Poor little guy. He is such a great sweetheart. He just loves to be around people. No one has come looking for him yet, which is sad and he does not have a microchip. It's hard to believe he doesn't (didn't) belong to someone, but no one has come forward looking for him. He is losing some of his ears to frostbite, but otherwise no worse for wear. He will be available for adoption after March 5th.

Your generosity has made it possible for Kitty Keepers to take in this charming little kitten and save him from a certain death.

Meet Benny

Benny is just a big love bug; our gentle giant. He came to Kitty Keepers over 10 years ago as a young kitten with his feral mother and four siblings. They have all spent their entire lives with us and there are only two of them left. They have been the most exceptionally purrsonable cats you can imagine. Their mother, Lacey, was feral and it took her years to trust more than one or two people, her care givers, but she was the best mom ever. Benny was always a purrfect surrogate mom and helped her with his siblings. They would curl up for “protection” and warmth with Benny while mom was away. Probably a survival tactic from living on the streets. Benny is very shy and reserved, but once he knows who you are, he is a great big love.

Meet Noelle and Merry

Noelle came to us with her sister Merry just before Christmas 2005 when they where about 7 weeks old. They would not likely have survived the winter. They were both considered feral and unadoptable. Some people felt we should not bring them in as they would always remain feral.

Today Noelle is a tiny, petite kitty who is loving and sweet, she would make a wonderful new addition to a family looking for a Christmas kitty.

Merry is friendly and outgoing, though not as petite as her sister, she’s just the purrfect size to fit in your heart and family.

Both these darling kitties appreciate all the help our many friends give so that they had a place to go and to learn to trust people. They certainly dispel the theory that “once a feral always a feral”.

Meet Chrissy and Her Family

Once upon a time, a Kitty Keeper volunteer dropped in late one Saturday night to pick up some paperwork. When she got out of her care, she saw a beautiful little calico kitty strolling by the car. "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm" she thought, "I've never seen this kitty before." knowing the calico cats are female and not wanting to have an unspayed female loose on the property having babies who, if they survived, might turn feral; she snatched her up and found a cage for her until morning. After getting "Chrissy" settled in for the night with some dinner and a lot of loving, the volunteer took her papers and went home. The next morning when she stopped to check on this new kitty and see if perhaps she was a neighborhood cat, she was met with the news that there was a cage containing a mama cat and three little babies. My goodness what a surprise! To the best of our knowledge Chrissy was just dropped off in the parking lot and her owner drove away. How fortunate those little babies were born in a safe place and Chrissy has a safe place to raise her darling brood.
Without the continued support of our good friends, Chrissy and her babies would have a most uncertain future.
Thank you for being there for us, Kitty Keepers couldn't do it without your help.
Meet Betty Boots and Lucy

Lucy and Betty Boots are sisters. They are almost identical except for Betty's white boots. they are lovely girls and about 2 years old. Their life started as kittens abandoned on the street. A nice lady in the neighborhood fed them and did the best she could to see they were cared for properly and kept safe. Then a man moved into the neighborhood and feel in love with these two lovely ladies. He brought them in and made them strictly indoor cats. When he had to go overseas and could not take his girls with him, he didn't know what to do with them. Everyone knew that after being indoor kitties for so long, they would not have a very good changed of survival on the street and so they came to live at Kitty Keepers. At first they were very frightened and hid most of the time, but eventually came to know that although this wasn't the safe home they had come to love and know, everyone at Kitty Keepers loved them and was trying to make their lives comfortable, safe and happy. They now come out to visit and love all the new people in their lives and as winter approaches it is very fortunate for them that they have a warm, safe place to live. Without the continued support of our good friends, Betty Boots and Lucy would have a most uncertain future.
Meet Georgie

My name is Georgie and I am one of the sweetest cats you will ever meet. I love to cuddle and curl up by your neck to sleep. I absolutely love people. I don’t dislike other cats, but I do like to be the boss. I have fun being a bully and some of the kitties I live with really don’t like me very much. I’m told I cause some tension, but I don’t mind. I’m not really mean, I’m just having fun. All my people friends absolutely love me and I have lots of kitty buddies too. I’m about 12 years old and have been waiting most of my life for a real forever home of my own. I would make someone a fabulous pet. I’m not very crazy about dogs, but that’s mostly because I don’t know many. I would probably do pretty good with dogs if given some time. I need a nice, indoor home where I can be safe and live out my life with love and kindness.

Meet Butterfly

Hello! My name is Butterfly and not only am I a beautiful lady, but I’m sweet and loving as well. I have lived the last eight years at Kitty Keepers and was a full grown kitty when I arrived. So no one really knows how old I am, but I’m at least middle aged.

My life is pleasant and comfortable and I know I’m loved. I some times wish maybe I could have a home of my own, but know it isn’t very likely at my age.

It’s been horribly cold this winter and some of the other guys still go outside for a little while, but I stay nice and toasty by the stove. Our home is kept clean and warm no matter what the temperature is outside. One day it was forty below zero, but our care givers all showed up to take care of us and keep the stove full of pellets.

We all appreciate that you are able to help support us. Without your help we would not have survived all these years.

So thank you for making life happy for one little
Butterfly.

Meet Artimus and Grasshopper

Dear Friends,
We would like to introduce you to our wonderful Artimus (Artie) and Grasshopper. Last fall Juno was found a stray, very frightened and very pregnant living on the streets. Her babies would not likely have survived the winter. Because of your extreme generosity, we were able to take her in and provide a home for her and her new five babies. Artie is the last of the five kittens born at Kitty Keepers. Grasshopper was just there one day with the barn cats, a friendly, sickly little kitten that had apparently been discarded in the vicinity and was lucky enough to hang with the barn cats until we found him. He was in quarantine for a long time recovering from his viruses, but he now romps and chases grasshoppers with Artie. They are so adorable and fun to watch. They now know love, security and safety as they are allowed to mature into the beautiful, loving cats they were meant to be.

Meet Tang and Jackson

Dear Friends,

Tang is a beautiful female tortoiseshell kitten. She was rescued with her brother Jackson when they were too little to eat on their own. An old house was being torn down and the mother and her 4 babies were hiding inside. Only two of the babies survived the ordeal. They were taken home and bottled fed until they were old enough to survive on their own.  The woman has dogs that will not allow for the kittens to remain with her. She has done a wonderful job of raising these babies into well-adjusted social kittens.
Both kittens are altered, vaccinated, wormed and tested. Now they can enjoy a carefree life at Kitty Keepers until they get a furrever home of their own.

Meet Jingles, Missy and RJ

We couldn’t resist this shot of these three very different cats taking their afternoon siesta together. Jingles is about 8 years old and is such a love. She loves to ride on your shoulder to cuddle and was abandoned with her sister Belle 8 years ago. Belle got adopted, but Jingles remains with us. Missy was in the local pound and was going to be euthanized when someone “adopted” her and brought her to us. She is such a sweetheart, but has not been lucky enough to find her furrever home. RJ was abandoned on the streets as a kitten and is such a great cat. He has been adopted twice and each time returned. How sad it must be to find a real home and again be discarded, but as you can see he’s content to live with us.

Although there is plenty of room and are ample individual places to sleep, sometimes the residents like to curl up together to take a nap.

Meet Sunshine

Hi Friends,

I’m Sunshine and even though there really hasn’t been a whole lot of sunshine lately, everyone loves me in my new home at Kitty Keepers. They bring sunshine to my life and make me feel so welcome and happy. As you can see, I’m really a beautiful girl. My fur is still just a little bit matted because when you come to live at Kitty Keepers, first you have to be all alone and quarantined for 30 days, then before you can join the rest they have to take your blood to make sure you don’t have any deadly disease, vaccinate you to keep you healthy and YUCK dip your whole body in this smelly old lime stuff to kill any parasites that could contaminate the whole sanctuary. My new friends are brushing me and I’m working on my beautiful coat, soon I’ll be totally shiny and smooth again.

I wish I could tell these great new people where I came from and a little about myself, but I will remain a mystery to them. They came to work one very cold morning to find a taped up cardboard box in front of the door, they said they were suspicious when they saw the holes and sure enough — I was waiting inside. Boy was I cold, hungry and scared. They were so nice and kind to me and did all they could to make the 30 days pleasant for me. All it said on my box was “spayed”. They all said I was bright like the Sunshine and that is my new name.

We all thank you so much for helping to make it possible for this little Sunshine to have a place to shine.

Sunshine is a lovely, friendly and well-adjusted, long-haired, spayed female. She loves attention and has won the hearts of those who meet her. She is a young adult and will make someone a wonderful forever pet.

We wish she could tell us more about her past, but we know she is a special kitty.

Thank you for caring enough to provide financial aid to Sunshine and all her friends. Without the help of the many caring supporters, Kitty Keepers would not be able to continue the work we do.

You are truly Sunshine’s guardian angels and she sends her love for your support.

Meet The Flintstones

Mama Wilma and her 6 week old babies Bam Bam, Barney, Deena, Fred, Rexi and Pebbles.  This lovely family of kitties was abandoned in a trailer with no food, water or love.  They were rescued and brought to Kitty Keepers where they are all altered, vaccinated and tested.  Instead of being unfriendly and hard to work with they are an adorable family who love the other cats, their care givers and having regular food, water, shelter and attention.  They romp and play and would love to have a home of their very own.

Your generosity has made this rescue possible and the Flintstone Bunch send you their love, thanks and purrrrs.

Thank you,

Wilma and kids

Meet Tut

Hello, my name is Tut and I do consider myself the official King of Kitty Keepers. I am always on hand to greet visitors who come to visit us. I am truly a beautiful ball of fur and just love attention. All the people at Kitty Keepers love me and I insist that they hold me and whenever possible let me nap on a soft warm lap. I’m a middle aged man, but would make a lovely addition to someone’s home and bring you many hours of love and purrs. I would really love to have a home of my own and not share the attention with so many others, but black cats are not easily adopted and there are lots of us here.

I just wanted to greet you today and thank you for caring enough to help support us at the orphanage. I know it’s a tough job for them to keep things going and they couldn’t do it without your help.

Thank you,ö
TUT

Meet Devon

Dear Friends,

Little Devon is a friendly and loving kitten. She loves, people, cats, dogs and purring. She REALLY loves to eat. She was found alone one cold evening on a road on the outskirts of town. No one was around and no one has claimed her. She would not have survived overnight alone. She appeared, at first to be about 4 weeks old, but after a visit to the vet it was discovered she’s at least 12 weeks old, very small and underweight. Being the runt of the litter she did not get enough food for her healthy growth and that is probably why she eats whenever she gets the chance now. She has curly hair and curly whiskers and looks to be a Cornish Rex or mixed breed with some Rex in her. This is a very unusual cat in our area. I’ve never seen one before. She is very content in her foster home and we hope to find her a home before she’s old enough to be taken to the sanctuary. This special little girl is well deserving of a home where she will always be loved.

The Sanctuary appreciates sponsorship of unadoptable kitties as it is used for ALL the animals to provide the above services. We have so much to be thankful for and our dear friends are supporters are at the top of the list.

Thanks you for being there for us, Kitty Keepers couldn’t do it without your help. Thank you for helping to make this possible.
